Mr. John Benjamin “Johnny” Sadler, age 85, a former resident of Edward, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Brian Center in Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware will be held at a later date.
Mr. Sadler was born in New Bern, N.C. on February 9, 1931. He was the son of the late William Alfred Sadler Sr. and Ella Mae Walker Sadler. Mr. Sadler served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a retired truck mechanic. Mr. Sadler was a member of Mary’s Chapel Christian Church. In his spare time, he loved drag racing.
Mr. Sadler is survived by his daughters, Patricia McClain of Bear, DE, Tammy Sadler of Clayton, DE, Wendy Vaneiken of Elkton, MD, Connie Pendergast of Wilmington, DE, Terry Austin of New Castle, DE; two brothers, Frank W. Sadler of Aurora, Hal W. Sadler of Edward; a sister, Gail Gurganus of New Bern; caregiver, Frances Hathaway-Roper of Wilson; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sadler was preceded in death by a brother, William Alfred Sadler Jr.
