4-Wheelin’ Rally scheduled for Sept. 24

The 12th annual JR Simmons Memorial 4-Wheelin’ Rally will be held on Sept. 24, sponsored by Tyrrell Volunteer Fire Department.

The rally course is in the Frying Pan and Gum Neck sections of Tyrrell County. To reach the meeting place, take U.S. Highway 64 to Columbia, then N.C. Highway 94 South six miles to Frying Pan Fire Substation at the foot of Frying Pan Road.

Participants must be in line and ready to go at 10:30 a.m. No latecomers will be entered.

Every participant is required to wear a DOT-approved helmet, and goggles are “highly, highly recommended.”

Riders age 16 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.

No alcoholic beverages will be allowed.

Entry fee is $25 for each ATV, UTV or Dirt Bike plus $5 for each additional rider. Lunch will be provided.

Deadline for receipt of entry form and fee is Sept. 12. A $5 fee will be charged for late entries.

All proceeds go to Tyrrell Volunteer Fire Department, a private, not-for-profit corporation that provides fire protection services to Columbia and Tyrrell County.
