Quinton Wilkinson

Quinton Donnell Wilkinson, of 107 Grace Court, Chocowinity, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

He was born on March 13th, 1987 to the proud parents of Harry & Marilyn Wilkinson. He was a proud graduate of Washington High School, “Class of 2005.”

He was a faithful member of the former West Ninth Street Church of God in Washington, where he served in the Audio Visual department as the church videographer from 2002-2005. He published news articles and won several awards within the state Church of God youth convention.

One of his greatest accomplishments was being a first-generation college student. Quinton graduated from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, on May 8, 2010, obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration. He was very active on campus, serving in the Student Government Association since 2007 as Junior Class President, Board of Trustee Representative and Senior Class Chief of Staff.

Also, Mr. Wilkinson served as the Vice-President of the Student Leaders Organization, Pre-Alumni Council President, Residential Assistant, teacher assistant within the Division of Business, member of Students for Barack Obama and a member of the SAC Gospel Choir.

He was a former intern under the North Carolina Department of Transportation in 2007 and employed at the Raleigh Business & Technology Center. Summer of 2008, he interned with the Prezell R. Robinson Library and presented a Marketing Plan, which was called “Preserving Saint Augustine’s University Heritage in the 21st Century.” Mr. Wilkinson proudly represented the university in numerous events, which included the National Urban League Black Executive Exchange Conference in Miama, Florida, the United Negro College Fund Conference in Montgomery, Alabama, the HBCU Honors Conference in Roanoke, Virginia, and the South Carolina Democratic primaries in Columbia, South Carolina. He was fortunate to meet First Lady Michelle Obama, Pastor Shirley Caesar and Tatyana Ali.

Following undergrad, he was employed at his alma mater working in the office of Residential Life & Housing and the Admissions departments. He attended Joy and Deliverance Christian Church in Raleigh, NC, under the leadership of Pastor Mary Mayo where he served on the Youth Board.

Upon returning home, Quinton founded his own Media Productions business named Q’s 21st Media Productions, where he provided services for special events, weddings, funerals and church services.

Quinton leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents: Harry & Marilyn Wilkinson of Washington; one brother, Bryan Wilkinson of Washington; two grandparents, David and Lydia Boone of Washington; great-grandparents, James Arthur (Dora) of Washington; two aunts, Ella Smaw and Stacey Keys (Karl) of Washington; six uncles: Steve Boone (Pam) of Washington, Cary Wilkinson (Valerie); Johnny Ray Wilkinson of Belhaven; George Wilkinson, San Antonio, TX; and Reginald Wilkinson (Tausha) of Apex, NC; great-aunts: Elder Denise English of Greensboro, NC, Anna Nelson-Boyd and Elder Betty Moore of Washington; one god-sister, Pamela Grantham of Greenville, NC, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and family. Quinton was preceded in death by one paternal grandmother, Ivesta Wilkinson; one maternal grandfather, Ronald Arthur Blount.

He loved the Lord and was passionate to see people achieve great things in life. Quinton loved to play sports, especially football and basketball. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.

Mr. Wilkinson’s funeral will be 11am Saturday, September 17, at Cornerstone Family Worship Center. He will be buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

There was a public viewing Friday, September 16th from 2-6pm.
