Mamie Elizabeth (Waters) Ferrell, 97, originally of Pinetown, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on January 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Reaves and Sallie Beth (Woolard) Waters.
She was a graduate of Bath High School in Bath, North Carolina and a graduate of Washington D.C. Beauty School.
She was employed for 25 years as a licensed beautician with Wyman’s and Marion’s Beauty Salons in D.C. and MD. She was also employed at the Potomac Valley Bank for 10 years, before she retired.
She is survived by her children, Dian Thomson and husband Terry of Keedysville and Richard Ferrell Jr. and wife Peggy of Falls Church, Virginia; grandchildren, Richard Ferrell III of Concord, North Carolina, Tracey Thomson and wife Christy of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Amberly Briscoe and husband Dave of Williamsport, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Hunter Briscoe and Kendal Thomson; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and friends. She loved them all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ferrell Sr.; brothers, Ira, Elzberry, Dick, Bill and Hubert Waters; sisters, Cammie Johnson, Clara Palme and Berline Simpson; and grandson David Ferrell.
Interment will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 beginning at 3:00 pm at the U.R. Waters Family Cemetery in Pinetown, North Carolina.
Memorial donations may be made to Smile Train, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church in Pinetown, North Carolina.
