Thelma Taylor Chauncey, 71, of Washington, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Ms. Chauncey was born on January 27, 1945 in Martin County to Claudia Sutton and John Griffin Taylor and was the widow of Louis Raymond Chauncey.

Surviving include her daughter Penny Chauncey Haley and her husband John of Fort Myers, FL; her sisters: Helen Hillier and her husband Larry, Terry Conner and her husband Fred and Shelby Hodges, all of Washington, and Rita Fernandez of Aiken, SC; her brother John Taylor and his wife Margaret Ann of Timmonsville, SC; her two grandsons Anthony Beacham and Louis Beacham; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Ms. Chauncey’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2016 with Reverend Randy Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends at her home, 300 Minuteman Lane, Apt. 131 in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Missions Class, c/o 15th Street Church of God, 336 East 15th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
