Golfers will have a chance to hit the green and raise money for scholarships at the Beaufort County Community College Foundation’s 23rd-Annual Invitational Golf Tournament, sponsored by PotashCorp-Aurora.

The tournament will take place Oct. 21 at Washington Yacht & Country Club. Live and silent auctions and a seafood banquet will precede the tournament on Oct. 20.

The tournament is the largest, single annual-fundraising event for the foundation. It will raise funds for scholarships to help eligible students with the cost of tuition and books, as well as emergency grants. Last year, the foundation awarded 112 scholarships totaling more than $85,000.

“We want to make sure that no student forgoes attending college because they cannot afford books or tuition,” said Serena Sullivan, executive director of the BCCC Foundation. “The auction is a great way for people who do not play golf to support the cause. We are going to have some beautiful crafts and donated items for people to bid on.”

The tournament will be a four-person super ball format with teams pre-flighted based on each golfer’s handicap. The entry fee is $80 per player and includes lunch, cart rental and greens fee. Team prizes will be awarded by the 18-hole score in each of three flights.

Four prize packages for “closest to the pin” shots will also be awarded.

Team and hole sponsorships are now being accepted, as are registrations for teams and players. The BCCC Foundation is also still accepting donations for the live and silent auctions.
