From Hyde County Historical and Genealogical Society

The Hyde County Historical and Genealogical Society announces the long-anticipated publication of its newest book, “Early Hyde Co., NC, Marriage Records: 1735-1899,” which will first be available for purchase Sunday.

The 326-page, hardbound book presents a wealth of information for researchers and genealogists in that it lists marriage bonds, marriage licenses and certificates. The book’s information is alphabetized by groom names, and it has a brides index. In addition, parents of the grooms and brides are listed along with officiates, witnesses and date/place of the marriage.

A book-signing event and reception to introduce the book will be held Sunday, from 2-4 p.m. at R.S. Spencer Inc., 34910 U.S. Highway 264, Engelhard. The book’s editor, Linda Gray Mayo, will be there to autograph the new publication and answer any questions.
