The annual Labor Day celebration at Norman Smith American Legion Beach on Albemarle Sound, which was postponed by Tropical Storm Hermine, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1.

American Legion Post 182 of Columbia, the event sponsor, promises fun and fellowship for everyone, and the Legionnaires’ famous barbecued chicken dinners will be served from 4-7 p.m.

The large, air-conditioned beach house can accommodate those who decide to dine in, and carryout plates will be available also. Meals are $8 each.

Tickets for the original Sept. 3 event will be honored.

A 50/50 raffle will be open to all who choose to participate. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

“Come enjoy the early autumn air in the shade of ancient hardwoods beside the sound, visit with friends and neighbors, take part in or just watch games and enjoy a special evening meal at Legion Beach on Oct. 1,” invites post commander Bill Voliva.

Norman Smith American Legion Beach is at 185 Legion Beach Road north of Columbia.
