Mrs. Bertha Taylor Paul, age 89, a resident of Washington, NC died Friday, September 30, 2016.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington officiated by Derik Davis.  Her service will be held in conjunction with the service of her brother, W. B. Taylor, who died less than twenty-four hours before her.

The family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington

Mrs. Paul was born in Rabun County, GA on April 24, 1927, daughter of the late Woodson Burney Taylor and the late Ida Marcus Taylor.  She was a graduate of Connestee Falls High School in Brevard, NC.  First she married Efford Woolard who preceded her in death and later married Elmer Paul who also preceded her in death.  She was a clerk with Whitford’s Drug Store and later managed the Carolina Inn Motel in Carolina Beach.  Mrs. Paul was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.

Survivors include a sister: Mary B. Smith and husband Marvin of Washington; a brother: Claud James Taylor of Washington; a sister-in-law: Marilyn W. Hale and husband Tommy of Washington and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC  27612.
