Angie Sexton, clerk of court, and Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported to Tyrrell commissioners on Sept. 20 on recommendations of the Courthouse Security Committee, which also includes Gene Reynolds, register of deeds.

They recommended that security cameras be installed in both courtrooms, hallways, and on the exterior of the courthouse and annex building.

They also recommended constructing see-through partitions in the clerk’s and magistrates’ offices to separate court personnel from members the public.

The camera and partition recommendations headed a list of recommendations in an 18-page report that was developed after the committee and a court security consultant, provided by the N.C. Sheriffs’ Association, examined the premises earlier this year.

The commissioners took no immediate action.
