Food distribution sites announced

Beaufort County’s Emergency Management Department, with assistance from several agencies, plans to distribute food (military-style MREs) and bottled water at noon Tuesday.
MRE stands for meals-ready-to-eat.
The distribution sites are at the following locations:
• Washingon —Washington Plaza shopping center on 15th Street across from Washington Square Mall;
• Bath — at the Bath Volunteer Fire Department building;
• Aurora — at the parking lot of the former Piggly Wiggly store.
Recipients will be limited to a specific number of MREs and bottled water.
Many grocery stores and restaurants are restocking after disposing of food because of power outages associated with Hurricane Matthew. They may not reopen until late Tuesday or later this week, depending on when they are resupplied.
If schools reopen Wednesday, the shelter at P.S. Jones Middle School could be relocated to Snowd Branch Church of God in the western part of the county.
