Fairies, witches, pirates and even a bumblebee and elephant arrived in droves to hear seasonal stories, enjoy refreshments and play a game or two during a traditional Halloween party for youngsters recently.

The event was hosted by George H. & Laura E. Brown Library in Washington and sponsored by the Friends of the Brown Library organization, according to children’s librarian Terry Rollins.

Rollins and librarian volunteer Mary Pat Musselman shared a few favorite Halloween books, including “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything” and “Room on the Broom.”

The party was just the latest in a series of special events held at the library for younger readers.
