CHOCOWINITY — Every fall, the Arc of Beaufort County and the Eastern Antique Power Association join forces to host a special day “down on the farm” for special needs citizens, their families and caregivers.

This year’s event, postponed due to Hurricane Matthew, did not disappoint. There were tractor rides, antique car rides, old-fashioned pumping stations, barrel train rides, hayrides, games and music.

A luncheon complete with pizza, soft drinks and homemade ice cream made the festivities complete.

Dozens of area businesses pitched in with donations of cash, services and merchandise to make the day possible, according to Stan Hudson, EAPA president and host for the show at his family’s Chocowinity home.

“We had between 350 and 400 people attend, including our volunteers,” Hudson said. “It was a great success, and we are already looking forward to next year.”
