The Beaufort County Traditional Music Association November music offering features Gumbo Lily. The show takes place on Thursday evening, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Turnage Theatre Gallery in Washington. Admission is free, and donations are accepted. The theater is located in downtown Washington at 150 W. Main St.

Gumbo Lily has a warm energetic sound, and brings many of your favorite traditional tunes to the stage. The band also performs original songs, bluegrass, country and folk tunes, with a bit of the Wild West thrown in.

BCTMA’s popular variety show returned on Nov. 12 at the Turnage Theatre Gallery. Featured musicians included The Flatland Zingers, Eugene Gurganus, Sidney Moore and the Wallace Family Band. These talented musicians performed a wide variety of exciting traditional music. Admission to the variety show is free, and donations are accepted.

Free jam sessions are held on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at the Turnage Theatre to encourage musicians and fans to participate in live traditional music. Drop by and enjoy the music.

Nov. 29 brings the monthly BCTMA Showcase to the Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center in Washington from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This free showcase features guest musicians playing country, classic rock and traditional mountain music. The center is located at 103 W. Main St., and everyone over 55 years of age is invited enjoy the music.

The Beaufort County Traditional Music Association is a non-profit grassroots organization formed in 2008 to promote the performance and enjoyment of traditional music in eastern North Carolina. New members are welcome.
