From the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office

Second Judicial District Attorney Seth Edwards announced this week the addition of two assistant district attorneys to his staff, James Merritt White IV and Kimberly Nicole Dixon. Both White and Dixon will work out of the Beaufort County office, but will handle cases throughout the five-county district.

White is originally from Concord, North Carolina. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2013 with degrees in history and peace, war and defense. Following graduation, White rode a bicycle over 4,200 miles across America for Journey of Hope to raise money and awareness for the disabled. Later that year, he enrolled in Campbell University School of Law and graduated with a juris doctor degree in 2016. He previously interned with Edwards, as well as the law firm of Hartsell and Williams, PA, in Concord. White is licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina.

Dixon hails from Kinston, North Carolina. She attended Duke University and graduated in 2010 with a degree in history. Following graduation, she worked for Teach for America, a teacher leadership development program, for two years leading up to her enrollment also in the Campbell University School of Law in 2012. Dixon obtained her juris doctor degree from Campbell in 2015 and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar that same year. She previously interned with several entities, including North Carolina Sen. Angela Bryant. In October 2015, Dixon accepted the Wallace Advocacy Fellowship at Campbell Law School, where she assisted the trial advocacy programs until she accepted her position in the DA’s office.

Edwards and his wife, Kim, also graduated from the Campbell University School of Law.
