Community members looking to make the holidays a little brighter for families this season can bring donations to the Beaufort County Community College campus. Student organizations are collecting donations for both Toys for Tots and Ruth’s House.

The BCCC Student Government Association is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children up to 8 years old through Dec. 8. Donations to Toys for Tots can be dropped off in the cosmetology lobby of Building 11 or the student services office in Building 9.

The Beaufort County Association of Nursing Students is collecting donations for Ruth’s House through Nov. 28 in Building 12. Suggested donations include toiletries, such as soap and shampoo, and paper products, such as toilet paper, diapers and tampons.

Clean toys can also be donated to Ruth’s House. Ruth’s House provides shelter and services for survivors of family violence and assists in the interruption of the cycle of family violence and abuse.

A great way to brighten up the holidays is to help a family who is struggling with violence and poverty. Hurricane Matthew has meant that many charitable organizations have seen a rise in people in need of help. Community donations are especially important now.
