CHOCOWINITY — Lucky holiday shoppers were able to avoid the hustle and bustle usually associated with gift buying again this year thanks to the Christmas Expo hosted by the Chocowinity Fire Department Auxiliary.
The annual event was held Nov. 19 in conjunction with the town’s Christmas parade, the first of the holiday season in Beaufort County.
The expo offered a wide range of handcrafted items, including wood carvings, crocheted and knitted winter wear, decorations, hair bows, jewelry and pet gift ideas. Adding to the selection were pickles and preserves from Southside Farms and baked goods prepared by members of St. James CME Church.
Santa Claus was a draw for youngsters eager to share their holiday wish lists with the jolly ol’ elf.
The Chocowinity Expo and other similar craft shows and church bazaars held throughout Beaufort County during the Christmas season offer shoppers a chance to spend their money locally while also selecting one-of-a-kind gifts for family and friends.
