Mrs. Pamela Jane Walker Smith, 58, of 6573 Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, joined the Angelic Choir on Friday evening, November 25th, 2016.

Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late Rev. & Mrs. Edward M. Walker, was born in Goldsboro, NC on March 2nd, 1958. On April 9th, 1982, she married the love of her life, Gary Ray Smith.

Pam had a rock solid faith in Christ and gift for music. An accomplished pianist, organist and soloist, she shared her gift and passion for sacred music from a young age. Her talent was recognized. Pam attended the NC Governor’s School for the Arts. She continued her music education and participated in choir, chorus and solo performance at Liberty Baptist College, now Liberty University, and East Carolina University. She would go on to lead the music ministry at several area churches and was the choir director at the Riverview Baptist Church at the time of her death. Pam was a retiree of the Pitt County Schools.

Before music and career though, came family. A beloved wife and model of motherhood, her love for family, her daughters and her four precious grandchildren was her highest calling and Pam’s amazing legacy. She was the world’s best ‘Nana,’ volunteering as a ‘G.G.’ every school year. Pam never missed a ball game, cheer competition or dance recital. Her grandchildren knew that no matter what, Nana would be in the stands cheering them on.

Preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Jane Walker and husband, Gary Smith, she is survived by daughter Samantha and husband Woody Broome of Washington, daughter Jessica and husband Greg Graham Jr. of Blount’s Creek; beloved grandchildren, Preston Broome, Emmary Graham, Kayden Broome and MaKynna Graham and, brothers and sister-in-law, Eddie Walker and Gordon and Eva Walker, all of Greenville, along with two nieces, four nephews, pets Angel and Noel and an extended family who she loved as her own.

Samantha, Jessica and family would like to thank the members of Pam’s Riverview Church and Tranter’s Creek families. The time, support and love shared with Pam and our family will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Pam’s Life will be held at Riverview Baptist Church, 6228 Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Eddie Coltrain and Reverend Ralph Brown with family visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the Music Ministry of Riverview Baptist Church, 6228 Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, NC 27889 be considered.
