Michael Bilbro has served on the Beaufort County Board of Education for two years. He serves District 6, which covers the Washington attendance area.

Chairman Terry Williams commented about Bilbro, “Michael has made a positive impact on the quality of education for our children in Beaufort County by bringing a deeper insight to the decisions made by the school board. He fulfills his roles and responsibilities with thoughtful consideration and has been instrumental in bringing change within our school system. Michael’s area of expertise has helped the board make more informed decisions.”

Bilbro is a native of Washington, having graduated from Washington High School in 1991. His roots are deep here, and he has a passion for making the school system the best it can be. He is very active in the community and wants this county to produce the highest standards in education. His mother and wife were both educators in the system for many years, and his three children are attending three different schools in Washington.

The Board of Education feels that Beaufort County is very fortunate to have Bilbro serve on the board. His knowledge and foresight are just the tools needed to be a successful member making important decisions for students.

Over the next several weeks, the Daily News will be highlighting Beaufort County Board of Education members, as part of a spotlight series about the members’ backgrounds and their roles on the board.
