CHOCOWINITY — Chocowinity Primary School is putting the finishing touches on its 2016 holiday musical, which will be presented Tuesday evening in the Southside High School auditorium.
The show stars CPS third-grade students and is directed by music teacher Chrissy Mauser. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with music and a hot chocolate social, and the performance is scheduled for 6:30.
This year’s theme is “Jinglebell Jukebox,” according to Mauser.
“It’s like a 50s retro theme with holiday songs to get you in the spirit,” Mauser said.
Joining the third-grade students in the production are Assistant Principal Spencer Pake and teacher Emily Smith.
Holiday songs featured in the show include “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Sleigh Ride.”
The cast has been rehearsing for several weeks.
“It’s really fun just practicing the songs over and over again,” said student Tate Tucker.
“I like the speaking parts the best … when we have to use expressions,” said student Luke Bullock. “I’m looking forward to it being a good play.”
