Eve Cashwell Sandlin Ide

Mrs. Eve Cashwell Sandlin Ide, 77, of Bath, died in Raleigh at her sister’s home on Friday, December 2, 2016.
Mrs. Ide was born in Elizabeth City in 1939, the daughter of the late Charles Pigford Sandlin and Lois Cashwell Sandlin. She moved to Raleigh in 1941 and attended the Raleigh City Schools. She graduated from the Broughton High School; received her undergraduate degree in Science Education from UNCG and her Master’s in Education from North Carolina State University (NCSU). She taught science in public schools in Pennsylvania and Wake County, NC until her retirement in 2000. After retirement she moved to Washington, NC and then to Bath, NC on the beautiful Pamlico River. She taught at Beaufort County Community College until May 2016. Mrs. Ide was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath. She loved her Lord and reading His Word. She also loved to travel and sailing with her husband. Her hobbies were Mahjong, Bridge and Book Clubs.
She is survived by her husband, Harlow C. Ide Jr.; sister, Sue Sandlin Plaehn; sister and brother-in-law, Gay and Frank Woodson Eatman; nieces and spouses, Betty and Russell Nelson, Casey and Robert Lovas, Lin and Banks Hunter, Elizabeth and Guy Bowman; three step-children; seven grandchildren; six grandnieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Brownie.
