Mrs. Donna Jacquelyn “Jackie” Selby Sadler, age 86, a resident of 517 Schoolhouse Road, Belhaven, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Bethany United Methodist Church, South Savannah Road, Belhaven, conducted by Rev. William Creech. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cliff Davis, David Davis, Timmy Selby, Gary Loes, Scottie Selby and Buddy Mountcastle will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Sadler was born in Beaufort County on May 8, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Ottis Selby and Edna Jane Sadler Selby. Mrs. Sadler was a retired cafeteria manager with the Beaufort County Schools, working most of her career at John A. Wilkinson High School. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sadler was very active in Bethany UMC Fall Festival, where she was known for her jellies and apple butter. In her spare time, she loved to cook, can and travel. Mrs. Sadler cherished her role as a grandmother.
Mrs. Sadler was married the Emmett Darrell Sadler Sr., who preceded her in death, November 24, 2016.
Mrs. Sadler is survived by a daughter, Jane Van Staalduinen and husband, Leonard of Greenville; a son, Emmett Darrell “Dee” Sadler Jr. of the home; two grandchildren, Ben Van Staalduinen and wife, Mary of Liberty, N.C., James Michael Van Staalduinen and wife, Joy of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Metta Davis of Belhaven, Polly Davis and husband, Sid of Plymouth, Karen Loes of Raeford, N.C.; and two brothers, Roy Selby of Greenville, Troy Selby and wife, Pat of Williamston.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Sadler was preceded in death by five brothers, Talmadge, Ottis E., Ray, Ben and Hal Selby.
The family will receive friends at the home, 517 Schoolhouse Road, Belhaven.
