Choral Society performs annual Christmas concerts

The Beaufort County Choral Society held its annual Christmas concerts at the Turnage Theatre in Washington on Dec. 9 and St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath on Dec. 11. Accompanied by a steel drum band and other instrumentalists, and featuring the Southside High School Choir, led by conductor Stephen Brand, the choral society performed music from across the world with song such as “An African Noel,” “Christmas Calypso” and the Austrian carol “Still, Still, Still.” Bringing the concert to a close at the Turnage Theatre, those in the audience who participated in the community sing of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” were invited to join the choral society ontstage. Harpist Michelle Cobley (below) accompanied the choral society during the Turnage concert.
