BLOUNTS CREEK — A Washington man is dead after a car crash in Blounts Creek Saturday afternoon.

Forty-two-year-old Chad Hugh Tetterton, of 608 Haven St., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened mid-afternoon Saturday on Core Point Road, near Keyes Road, after Tetterton lost control of his vehicle, running off the road and overturning. Tetterton’s was the only vehicle involved, and he was the only one in the vehicle.

Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Beaufort County EMS, Chocowinity EMS and the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing at this time, and there is no word on what caused the accident.

Tetterton was working in the Washington area as a truck driver, according to information on social media.

The Tetterton family set up a GoFundMe account on Sunday to help with final expenses, and the page has since been shared more than 540 times.

The Highway Patrol trooper who is investigating the accident was not available for follow-up questions before press time.
