AND THE WINNERS ARE: Winners of the Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center’s ugly Christmas sweater contest on Thursday were: first place, Larry Loving; second place, Bette Hamilton, wearing her version of “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer;” and Norma Riegel, her sweater bearing a few stockings filled with switches.

Seniors celebrated the holiday together at the Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center’s annual Christmas party on Wednesday afternoon. Featuring a Bingo game played with Christmas Hershey’s chocolate kisses, an ugly Christmas sweater contest, in which winners were awarded gift cards and coupons for free items at Sheetz and Hardee’s, food and fellowship, a good time was had by all. Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center Supervisor Stephen Clayton also announced upcoming trips for the new year, including a trip to Niagara Falls. The Senior Center, located in the Peterson Building on West Main Street in Washington, offers exercise classes, educational seminars and other activities for Beaufort County seniors.
