Mike Isbell served on the Beaufort County Board of Education for eight years. He served District 9, which covers the Pinetown area.
Chairman Terry Williams said: “Mike possesses that special talent of being able to thoroughly analyze issues and formulate a positive solution. This is absolutely essential to be a productive board member. Mike never brings any personal agendas but always does what is in the best interest of all students in Beaufort County. Mike Isbell is a person of strong character and moral conviction, and it has been an honor to serve alongside him on the Board of Education. I count Mike as one of my closest personal friends.”
Isbell is not a stranger to education. His wife retired from Beaufort County Schools after a career at Northside High School. During his tenure with the Board of Education, Isbell was known for his dedication to the students and staff of each and every school. He was the kind of board member who would think things through before making any judgment or comment about a situation.
Isbell’s words were positive and meaningful for the specific topic of discussion.
Beaufort County Schools would like to thank Isbell for his many years of service and wish him well in his future endeavors.
This final Board of Education spotlight was written as a farewell to Isbell, whose term expired on Dec. 12.
