On Friday, Wayne Woolard was surprised by family and friends when they presented him with the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest civilian honor in the State of North Carolina. A crowd gathered at the Bath home of Rusty and Patsy Duke to commemorate the occasion. Woolard was stunned and could only thank those who attended. Several of the attendees spoke of Woolard’s character, saying he is a stand-up man who does a lot of behind-the-scenes work no one will ever know about. Woolard owns Wayne’s Tree Service in Washington and works with the Greater Bath Foundation and the Historic Bath Commission. His sons Wayne and Cole were also on hand for the occasion.
