The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday evening at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. After a social period in the Upper Deck, members gathered in the Pamlico Room for dinner and business. David McLawhorn called the meeting to order and Zeno Edwards led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Russell Smith gave thanks for the meal. President McLawhorn kicked off the new year with Club Assembly. This is a time set aside to discuss new business and projects for the upcoming months. He thanked members and congratulated them for their continued support of the Salvation Army. Members participated in a very successful kettle campaign during the holidays. Bill Wall spoke next concerning the Charlie Griffin Memorial Fishing Tournament. The tournament is set for June 3, and the ground work begins now. Committees are being set up to involve all members in the club’s largest fundraiser. Shannon Carter closed the meeting by leading members in reciting the Four Way Test of the things we think, say and do.
