From the Beaufort County Choral Society
Happy January 2017! Beaufort County Choral Society is up, running and ready to go for our spring semester.
With a list of new songs, some familiar and some new, we’ll start rehearsals tonight at the Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center in Washington at 6:30 p.m. to register, pay dues, get our new music and greet returning friends after our short break following our highly successful December concerts. We hope to meet new folks wanting to “try” us out. With the purchase of good sound equipment, which we used for the first time at our Turnage Theatre Christmas concert, we feel our performance was far more professional, so we’re planning for more venues and additional concerts (as we did last semester), culminating in our spring concerts at the Turnage and in Bath in early May. Looking even further ahead, we will again do a Messiah Sing the first weekend in December 2017, and hope to make it an annual event.
Our director, Stephen Brand, will be offering extra help from 5:30-6:30 p.m. each Thursday evening for those who wish to gain some basic music competency, for example, in breathing techniques and using the voice properly, as well as learning to read music and staying on pitch by listening to one another. Dues remain the same at $40 and scholarships are available.
There are no tryouts and Dean’s List requirements. All are welcome. All you need to bring is the desire to learn and attend rehearsals faithfully, making BCCS a top priority in your schedule.
Come try us out, and join us. For more information, call J. Hickson at 252-974-1033, or check us out on Facebook.
