Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about how you would like to show a special someone how much you think of them. Why not simplify that issue by letting the Tyrrell County Public Library make a special delivery on Valentine’s Day!

Last year’s “Valentine’s Day by Special Delivery” was a huge success. This year, Snoopy will make all the deliveries for the adults, and the children will be treated to a special visit by Olaf.

Adult deliveries will be made in the morning between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The adult delivery area will be the town of Columbia, including a one-mile radius around the town limits. This area includes: State Employees Credit Union, the Board of Education and Farm Bureau. Anyone outside this area can arrange to receive their boxes during lunch at one of the local establishments.

Valentine’s Day boxes will include many items. There will be a customized-plush bear designed especially for this promotion; some special chocolates; and a few other surprises in each box. Adult boxes will be different from the children’s, but will be the same price. Name tags will be attached to each box and, if it is a home delivery, the address for delivery purposes.

This year, Tyrrell Elementary School’s pre-K, Kindergarten and first grades have invited Olaf to their Valentine Celebration, and deliveries for each of these grades will be allowed only during the celebration. In addition, Olaf will also be making special appearances at Mother’s Helper from 10 to 11 a.m. and at Open Arms in Creswell beginning at 11:15. Deliveries will also be available to Potter’s House. For people outside of the delivery area, Olaf will be at the library between 4–4:30 p.m. to distribute purchased boxes to loved ones.

This will be an opportune time for you to snap a photo of your child with the popular, well-loved snowman from Frozen.

This will be a great occasion to do a little something different to honor your loved ones for Valentine’s Day. The cost of this service will be $8 for each personalized Valentine’s box. The supplies are limited, so you will need to act fast! Just visit the library, fill out the required information on the gift tag, and you will be guaranteed your loved one will be presented with a surprise on Feb. 14.

This will be your chance to celebrate love and friendship. Begin purchasing your boxes at the library on Wednesday, Jan. 25, as well as see some examples of these unique gifts.  The deadline for reserving the boxes will be Friday, Feb. 10 at noon, or while the supplies last. (The library sold out early last year.)
