Windy conditions lead to increased fire danger

The National Weather Service has issued an advisory until 6 p.m. today for increased fire danger.

Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, combined with relative humidity values in the 20s and dry fine fuels, will lead to an increased fire danger across eastern North Carolina. Outdoor burning is discouraged today.

Please refer to the local burn-permitting authority on whether residents can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression equipment is readily available.
