Alfred Staton of Vanceboro has received the Coastal Carolina Ford Club Scholarship.

Staton, 35, attended West Craven High School and is a student in the automotive technology program. Son of Laleather Shepard of Vanceboro, he currently works with Ricky Collins Concrete and Masonry as a brick mason. Staton plans to open up his own automotive shop. The Coastal Carolina Ford Club gathers donations at car shows for the scholarship.
