For the past four years, Beaufort County Schools and Beaufort County Farm Bureau have hosted the Northeast Regional Ag Expo, geared for students interested in agriculture-related careers.
This year, the Expo is planned for Nov. 2, at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agriculture Center in Williamston.
In 2016, there were 1,344 students participating in the Ag Expo, there are plans this year’s event to invite even more students in the Northeast Region.
On Feb. 3, Beaufort County Schools received its first donation for the Ag Expo from Perquimans County Farm Bureau of Hertford, N.C.
“This year’s event will be our fifth, and we are reminded just how important it is as we witness students interacting with professionals from various areas of agriculture. There is no question that student awareness of agriculture-related careers has increased as a result of the Ag Expo,” Superintendent Dr. Don Phipps said. “We are reaching a large number of students, and the event would not be possible without the financial support we receive from the businesses, organizations and volunteers who come out as exhibitors. This donation will help us kick off the 2017 Ag Expo planning.”
