From MATTIE Arts Center

FUN WITH ACRYLICS | March 7, March 21 | Noon to 4 p.m.

Instructor Cathy Clayton will lead students through the basics of acrylics. Starting on paper canvas, students will become acquainted with the use of brushes and paint mixing and will create a landscape image to take home. Cost is $30 per student. Materials included. Choose either or both dates.

POLYMER CLAY | March 11 | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Love to work with clay but don’t have a kiln? Then “Polymer Clay” may be the perfect solution. Students will learn to make a couple of simple canes (Mokume Gane, Zinnia and Leaf), the different uses for them, and complete a simple project to take home. The sky’s the limit for what one can aspire to create. It’s a low-cost craft, and the tools needed are already at home. Instruction fee is $30. Materials are $6.

WILDLIFE OIL PAINTING | March 7, 14, 21, 28 | 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Instructor Kaye Lee Brady returns to conduct this four-part, 10-plus-hour workshop for all skill levels. From her photo library, students will select at least one wildlife subject of their choosing to complete on a 16-inch-by-20-inch stretch canvass. Depending on skill level, students may complete more than one painting. Workshop instruction fee is $70. Materials and supplies for entire workshop are $15.

DRAWING WORKSHOP | March 2, 9, 16, 23 | 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Kaye Lee Brady will conduct this four-part, eight-hour workshop geared to hone the skills of intermediate and advanced students in drawing, shapes, perspective, techniques, shading and highlighting. Workshop fee is $60. Workshop materials and supplies package for brand new students are $15 and include portfolio-size sketchbook and all drawing tools (pencils, gum eraser, ruler, protractor, etc.). Returning students should bring their supplies from their previous workshops to avoid materials/supplies charge.
