Mrs. Nell Ward Cameron, age 79, a resident of 2962 Terrapin Track Road, Washington, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington, officiated by Rev. James Carrington and Pastor Todd Parrish. A private burial will take place later in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the Family Life Center of the church.

Mrs. Cameron was born in Beaufort County on June 6, 1937, daughter of the late Lester Lee Ward and the late Mary Susan Boyd Ward. She was a graduate of Grimesland High School. On December 23, 1959, she married Gerald Braxton Cameron, who survives. Mrs. Cameron was a dedicated member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington. She was a wonderful cook who volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Cameron proudly walked and supported the Beaufort County Relay for Life. Her mission here on earth was helping others.

Surviving along with Mrs. Cameron’s husband Gerald of the home are two sons: Gil B. Cameron (Iva) of Aransas Pass, TX and Phil W. Cameron (Elena) of Washington; a brother: Bobby Ray Ward (Sally) of Grimesland and two grandchildren: Braxton and Brodee Cameron.
