CHOCOWINITY — More adventure trips may be in store after a fundraising event slated for this Saturday.

“A Night Out with Angels N Camo” is returning for a third year to raise money to provide children with disabilities or life-threatening illnesses with the outdoors trip of a lifetime.

Saturday’s event, to be held at Tar Heel Variety Theater, will feature dinner catered by Filling Station Restaurant of Robersonville, silent and live auctions and entertainment by Nashville artist Amanda Daughtry, according to Lisa Adams, who heads up the nonprofit Angels N Camo.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” Adams said.

Ticket sales have already been more successful this year than in 2016, according to Adams, and there are a few left for those still interested.

Adams said the auction items are also of higher quality this year — including a swing, crossbow and Yeti product. Daughtry’s performance also gives the evening another aspect to it.

“That makes stuff a little bit different than your typical banquet,” Adams said.

“A Night Out” funds the majority of the costs associated with the adventure trips, she said. Last year, Angels N Camo provided five trips, including four fishing trips and one bear hunt.

“Being with the kids is like nothing else,” Adams said. “We’ve got lots of grown adults who have never had the experience.”

She said applications for this year will start to trickle in soon, and the success of Saturday’s fundraiser correlates to the success of the adventure trips. Organizers put in a lot of work and plan for the annual banquet over the course of an entire year.

“The day after the last banquet,” Adams laughed, referring to when planning begins for the next year.

All of the time spent, however, is more than worth it for the kids.

“A Night Out with Angels N Camo” is scheduled for 5-11 p.m. Saturday at Tar Heel Variety Theater. Tickets are $50 per person, or $80 for a couple. To purchase one of the remaining tickets, call Lisa Adams at 252-402-6575.
