The Old Ford Ruritan Club met for its regular monthly meeting on Thursday. The guest speaker was Investigator David Richards with the Narcotics Division of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Richards was accompanied by Elsa, the K-9 narcotics dog. Elsa is a 10-year-old Labrador retriever who was born in the Czech Republic and answers to commands in the Dutch language. She is qualified to detect five different narcotic drugs. Richards demonstrated Elsa’s ability to detect drugs hidden in the room.
