John D. Swindell

John David Swindell, 66, of Scranton, died, Thursday, March 9, 2017 at home.

Born in Beaufort County, June 10, 1950, he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Carmon Midyette Swindell. He was a member of the Scranton Christian Church.

He spent most of his working career as a financial officer in the banking industry and later on he retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the Swindell family cemetery.

Surviving is a son, David A. Swindell of Scranton and a stepdaughter, Heather B. Driver of Zebulon; a sister, Linda S. Parkison of Roanoke Rapids; three brothers, Michael T. Swindell and wife Elaine, Ronnie Swindell and wife Annette and Barry Swindell and wife Debbie, all of Scranton.

Throughout his life, John earned a reputation as a kind and generous man and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will gather with friends immediately following the service.
