The Saturday Night Jamboree held its annual western/barbecue dinner night recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. A special thanks to Paul Woolard Construction Inc. and Woodard’s Insurance of Bath for providing, and Paul and Phyllis for cooking, the barbecue. Loving volunteers Carolyn Jefferson and Tillie Braddy registered 144 clients, while Tine, Kathy and Brandie Lilley, and Joyce and Kaitlyn Cutler tied cowboy bandanas around each client’s neck. A special thanks to Scarlet Stokes for providing the materials for the bandanas. Russell Jefferson kept a close watch at the door, while DJ Kenny Beacham played music for dancing, listening and toe-tapping pleasure.

Redmen member Kenny Beacham and Kaitlyn Cutler called games of Bingo, and all winners received $1. Other caring volunteers helping for the evening were Jim Sadler, Tine Woolard, Michael and Kaitlyn Cutler, Kathy and Brandie Lilley and Kin Wood.

Marie Pinkham asked the blessing. Redmen members and friends served the barbecue plates with all the trimmings. Those serving included Paul and Phyllis Woolard, Kenny Beacham, Lawrence Beacham, Clyde Roberson, Kemp Huss, Tim Cashion, Ray Kennedy, Karl Simmons, Cee Cee Hodges, Marvin Alligood and Kin Wood.

Kenny Beacham led the activities and thanked the Redmen for the wonderful meal. Cowgirl Joyce Cawan led in singing “Happy Birthday” to all the March honorees.

The next Jamboree will be held April 8, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. All area mentally/physically challenged residents and all volunteers are urged to attend.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to provide refreshments, play music or make contributions to the Saturday Night Jamboree should contact President Marlene Sprouse at 252-946-4350.
