Lady Pack bounces Farmville Central in conference opener

FARMVILLE — Four Washington batters collected multiple hits, and freshman Abbigail Tucker threw five frames of one-hit ball in a 13-0 pounding of Farmville Central in Tuesday’s 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opener.

The Lady Pack jumped on the hosting Lady Jaguars with four runs in the first. Three runs in the second and another four in the following stanza gave Washington an 11-0 lead in no time.

Meghan Moore accounted for five of the team’s runs. She scored two herself and batted in three more. Jordan Pierce, Meghan Horton and Moore each had an extra-base hit in the win.

Tucker allowed one hit, issued a walk and fanned five in the game. She only faced 16 batters in the five innings.

 

Panthers coast by Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE — Northside picked up its seventh win in eight tries, 9-4, at Lejeune on Tuesday. Tanner Alligood picked up the win for the Panthers with three innings of relief work.

Lejeune took a 3-0 lead after the first, but Northside responded quickly with four runs in the top of the second. The Devil Pups knotted the game at four apiece thanks to a run in the third, but the Panthers erupted for five runs in the fifth.

Brock Marsh went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and two RBI. Ethan Cosentino and Alligood each had a hit, too. Northside’s batters were patient in amassing six walks.

Parker Boyd started for the Panthers. He was tagged for four runs (two earned) on six hits during his three innings of work. Freshman Matthew Adams also put in an inning.

 

Lady Panthers railroad Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE — Northside lambasted Lejeune, 18-0, on Tuesday to improve on its perfect start in 1-A Coastal Plains Conference play. An 11-run second inning propelled the Lady Panthers to the lopsided win.

Whitney Cromwell, Rachel Lang and Tiffany Oliver each had three hits in the game. They combined to score eight runs and push across seven more. Three other Lady Panthers had multiple hits in the offensive explosion. Brooklyn Hudnell had a home run, and Northside amassed seven extra-base hits.

Rebekah Williams threw five flawless frames. She fanned nine batters while allowing no hits or walks. She set down all 15 batters to step up to the plate.

 

Southside falls in extra innings

CHOCOWINITY — Southside erased a 4-2 deficit in the bottom of the seventh to send Tuesday’s game against Bear Grass into extra innings, but the Bears were able to pour on four runs in the ninth to win, 8-4.

Paul Radford rolled through the first seven innings of the game. The Bears notched 13 hits off of him, but could only score four runs. Brantley Cutler took the ball from there, but couldn’t get the defensive support to stave off Bear Grass. The visitors scored four unearned runs off of him.

Six Seahawks had at least a hit in the game. While Bear Grass doubled up Southside in the hitting department, it was ultimately the team with the cleaner defense that emerged victorious.

 

Lady Pack runs over Beddingfield

WILSON — Sydney Edwards scored four times as Washington dominated Beddingfield, 7-0, en route to its second 2-A Eastern Plains Conference win in as many tries.

Sydney Walker, Anna Frisbie and Maricela Gutierrez each found twine, too. Jordan Prescott assisted on two of the goals.

Goalkeeper Julissa Perez was only tested twice in the game. She saved both shots on goal to earn the shutout.
