Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS responded to a report of an inmate attempted suicide at the Beaufort County Detention Center in downtown Washington at about 6:40 p.m.

According to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Charlie Rose, the incident was more behavioral than medical. The inmate was treated at the facility and did not require transport to the hospital.
