Teddy Steven “Steve” Davenport Jr., 49, of Nags Head, NC, died April 2, 2017 at his home. Born September 22, 1967 in Alexandria, Virginia, he was the son of Margie Walton Davenport of Nags Head and the late Teddy Steven Davenport.
Owner and President of Davenport Builders, Inc., Steve has built over 100 beautiful homes since moving to the Outer Banks and joining his father, Ted in the family business in 2001. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time on the boat, watching his kids’ games (no matter the sport), four-wheeling or just tinkering at the farm. Most important was spending time with his family, whatever the activity. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, uncle and friend and will truly be missed. He attended Manteo Baptist Church and was a member of Manteo Lodge 521 AF&AM and the Dare County Shrine Club. He was very proud to be a member of the Beach Bums with the Shrine Club where he was instrumental in rebuilding the 2-way car for the parade unit.
In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tammy Crisp Davenport; daughter, Bailey Alexis Davenport (20); son, Bryce Aaron Davenport (16); sister, Alyson Ward (John); nephew, Carson Creef; nieces, Averi and Eme Creef, all of Nags Head; and father and mother-in-law, Mack and Nancy Crisp of Jamesville, NC.
A funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Manteo Baptist Church. A graveside committal with Masonic rites will begin at 3:30 pm at the Philippi Church of Christ Cemetery, Creswell, NC. The family received friends and relatives on Tuesday evening, April 4, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC.
