Key Women of America Inc., Washington branch, held its 21^st-annual scholarship banquet on March 11, at the Bishop James Woolard Fellowship Hall. The theme for this year’s banquet was “Unwavering Faith in Unlimited Possibilities.” Jeremiah Jackson, program director for Beaufort County’s Pathways program, was honored as the outstanding community and children’s advocate of the year. The 2016 scholarship recipient is Deija Stokes who attends N.C. A&T State University.

Key Women of America Inc. was founded by the Rev. Bertha Nelms Harris in New York City. The local chapter was chartered on Dec. 13, 1994.

The mission of the organization is to support family, youth and community. This mission is fulfilled each year because of the generosity and support of our community. Key Women of America, Inc. meets every first Saturday at Spring Garden Baptist church at noon.
