School bus involved in crash, no injuries

CHOCOWINITY — Tuesday around 3:45 p.m., a school bus with children on board was involved in a collision on Cotton Patch Road in Chocowinity.

According to Blounts Creek VFD Chief David Williams, there were five Chocowinity Middle School students on board the bus when it collided with a pick-up truck. No one was injured in the crash.

Beaufort County EMS, Chocowinity EMS and Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

Williams said there was limited information regarding the events leading up to the crash. He said the North Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.

“We are grateful that there were no injuries. The safe transport of our students is a critical concern for us. We continue to strive for safe, efficient service for our students and staff as well as operating safely with all other vehicular traffic on the road,” Dr. Don Phipps, Beaufort County Schools superintendent.
