On Wednesday, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Jeffrey Phelps, 28, of 720 Mill Road in Washington. Phelps was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a public officer and failure to heed for blue lights and siren.
Phelps arrest stemmed from investigators conducting a traffic stop on Phelps. Phelps refused to stop for blue lights and siren in a timely manner and attempted to swallow cocaine. Investigators searched Phelps and the vehicle. Investigators found a plastic snorting straw containing cocaine residue and a syringe.
Phelps was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
