Kader W. Ward

Mr. Kader Wilson Ward, age 84, a resident of Williamston, NC, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his residence. Kader was born January 6, 1933 to the late William Kader and Verna Wilson Ward in Martin County, NC. He was a life-long resident and farmer in Martin County and worked with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement with 21 years of service. He also did custom sawmill work and woodworking. Kader served his country in the United States Army. On March 13, 1953, he married the former Ozell Dixon, who predeceased him in 2010. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister Pauline Ward, one brother William Vernon Ward and one grandson, Taylor Wilson Ward.
Survivors include three sons: Kader Bradford Ward (Carla) of Williamston, NC, Steven Ray White (Rachel) of Washington, and Keith Ward (Melissa) of Garner, NC; one daughter, Glinda Fox (Wayne) of Williamston, NC; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Ward family cemetery, 10826 US Hwy 17, Williamston, NC, officiated by Minister Eddie Bowen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Ward family.
