Mrs. Yvonne Waters Klapp, age 63, a resident of 310 Cedar Lane, Washington, died Monday, May 8, 2017 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Second Baptist Church of Washington, officiated by Pastor John Koch. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Deacons of Second Baptist Church as well as Robbie Rose will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 9:00 a.m. to the funeral hour at the church on Friday.
Mrs. Klapp was born in Beaufort County on September 11, 1953, daughter of Ernest Sherman Waters and Faye Everett Waters whom both survive. She was a 1971 graduate of Leland High School in Wilmington and later received her cosmetology education at Beaufort County Community College. Mrs. Klapp worked as a teller at the former Wachovia Bank of Belhaven. On May 9, 1987, she married James Franklin Klapp who survives. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she was a choir member, a member of the WMU and assisted in the birth to three-year-old nursery.
Surviving along with her husband: James of the home and parents: Ernest and Faye Everett of Pinetown are three sons: Mark Jason Smith (Kimberly), Joseph Edward Smith and his fiancée Cherry Taylor and Nick Klapp (Nikki), all of Washington; a brother: Kenneth Waters (Lolita) of Portsmouth, VA; a sister: Myra Strickland of Pinetown and five grandchildren. Mrs. Klapp was predeceased by a brother: Ernie Waters.
