Mrs. Carolyn Joyce Rascoe Edwards, age 78, a resident of 55 Jerry Cofield Lane, Tarboro, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at her home.

Graveside services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the Edwards Family Cemetery in Vanceboro, conducted by Pastor George Daniels.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Charles Speight, Carlton Hudson, Grover Hudson, David Rascoe, and Derrick Speight.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Bath on April 13, 1939. She was the daughter of the late George Washington Rascoe and Ella Dean Blake Rascoe. Mrs. Edwards worked as a food preparer in Food Service at Cherry Point. She attended West End Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards was married to Marion “Bo” Edwards, who preceded her in death in 1990.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her children, Shirley Hudson of Tarboro, Barbara Edwards and her husband, Jesse, of Chocowinity, George “Tommy” Speight and his wife, Carol, of Pinetown; grandchildren, Grover Hudson and his wife, Valerie, of Rocky Mount, Carlton Hudson and his wife, Kristie, of Hobgood, Josh Speight of Tarboro, Derrick Speight, of Pinetown, Kelly Edwards, of Tarboro, Shana Speight and her husband, Alex, of Pinetown, Charles Speight, of Raleigh; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Andy “PeeWee” Rascoe of Washington, Becky Woolard and husband, Gary, of Williamston, Peggy Mobley and her husband, Michael, of Chinquapin, and Jimmy Riddle.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Edwards, Jr. and a sister, Doris Woolard.

The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of her daughter, Barbara Edwards, 75 Bells Avenue, Chocowinity, and her son George “Tommy” Speight, 453 Beaver Dam Road, Pinetown.
