To all the friendly people in Belhaven and Washington

To the Editor:
We are the couple whose boat burned and sank in your lovely town (Belhaven) on May 10, 2017. It was a tragic and life-changing event for us. As many of you know, our dog, Reina, perished in the fire. It has been our lessons in life that tell us that we truly grow in times that are very hard and that God is the one we need to trust. We can tell you from the bottom of our hearts that your community made us feel loved and cared for. Special thanks go out to Teresa, John Day, Ace Hardware, Captain Lee Sykes and both Captains Axson Smith. God is happy with your town as he says, “When you love one of mine in trouble you love me.” Our thanks are simply not enough, but we give them to you. We will visit Belhaven in the future and will remind you how loving and caring you were to us. God bless you all.
