Glenda Kay Keech, 64, of 7470 Free Union Church Road, The Free Union Community, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville after a brief illness.
Born in Beaufort County on June 1, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Hilton and Fannie Pearl Gaskins Keech. She spent her working years as cafeteria manager with Hyde County Public Schools where she retired in 2011. Following her retirement, she spent time caring for her parents and other elderly in her community. She was a member of Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Free Union OFWB Church. Rev. Tony Parrish and Rev. Ben Crabtree will officiate. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at the homeplace.
Surviving are a son, Lewis H. Cahoon and wife, Natalie of Greenville; two daughters, Jena C. Tunnell and husband, Greg of Greenville and Lisha C. Carawan and husband, Tracy of Swan Quarter; three sisters, Diana K. Cahoon and husband, Joseph and Kathy K. Midyette and husband, Al, all of Pinetown, and Janet K. Hudson and husband, Roger of Pantego; grandchildren, Alex Tunnell, Candace Chilcoat and husband, K.C., Valerie Tunnell, Seth Tunnell, Zack Tunnell, Heather Tunnell, Jenna Tunnell, Landon Cahoon and OliviaJane Cahoon; one great-grandchild, Edward Chilcoat; several special nieces and nephews; four special “granddogs.”
Memorials are suggested to Free Union OFWB Church, 4961 Free Union Church Road, Pinetown NC 27865.
The body will lie in state at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter on Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and later the family will receive friends at the Free Union Church between 6 and 8 p.m. where friends may join them for viewing and visitation.
